Case study: On October 16, OpenAI published how Stack Overflow is building a knowledge platform for people and agents. Two developers used Codex to build a first version of Stack Overflow for Agents in a few weeks. According to Stack Overflow, the time to build one connector for its enterprise product fell from an average of three to six weeks to four days; a more recent connector was reportedly built in one day.
A ChatGPT plugin made the product easier to discover and set up than a traditional MCP configuration. Stack Overflow reports that registrations tripled overnight after the plugin launched and that the number of agents created rose by up to ten times. These are supplier figures from a single case without independent evaluation; they do not prove that the same growth or development speed is achievable elsewhere.
DigiDare’s take: two lessons are practical for a Belgian SME. Use AI to build connectors only with code review, testing and limited technical permissions. Make a connection easy for employees, but never let convenience mean broader access: limit data sources by role, show where an answer comes from and define which actions an agent may only propose. After the pilot, measure not only activation but also correct answers, unwanted access and administrative overhead.
